Getting Started

Time Required: 15 minutes

There’s a first time for everything! This page will walk you through the details of your first solo meditation. To do this practice, you’ll need two things— your mobile phone, and a quiet spot to sit for a few minutes.

Finding a place to meditate

The spot can be almost anywhere, provided you can sit or lie down comfortably and silently for a few minutes. You might be at home, in your car, or in nature. And yes, that’s right, you can lie down or stand while you meditate. For this first practice, I would not recommend trying to move (eg walk) while practicing.

Get Insight Timer

Download Insight Timer on your mobile phone. Insight Timer is a free, unintrusive meditation timer that will help you keep track of time during your meditation. It also contains a wealth of guided meditations covering many different topics. You’ll listen to one of these guided meditations for your first meditation.

Ready?

Once you’ve found a quiet spot, pause the notifications on your phone, and click the link below to get started. Remember, you can be seated, standing, or lying down while you do this. And your eyes can be open or closed, whatever makes you most at ease.
